Nationwide Protests Erupt Against Trump’s Controversial Policies : Tens of thousands of Americans took to the streets across the United States on Saturday in a massive show of opposition to President Donald Trump’s divisive policies. From Washington, D.C., to Los Angeles, demonstrators voiced their anger over issues ranging from trade tariffs to threats against civil liberties, marking one of the largest anti-Trump protests since his return to the White House.
A Wave of Anger Across the U.S.
Protests unfolded in major cities, including New York, Houston, and Chicago, with activists condemning Trump’s aggressive trade policies, government cuts, and hardline immigration measures. In Washington, crowds gathered at the National Mall, where speakers, including Democratic lawmakers, rallied against what they called an “authoritarian” administration.
“I’m furious—this government is gutting our rights and destroying our alliances,” said Diane Kolifrath, 64, who traveled from New Hampshire to join the protest. “We can’t stay silent.”

Creative and Fierce Demonstrations
Protesters used striking visuals to convey their dissent. In Los Angeles, a woman dressed as a character from The Handmaid’s Tale waved a flag reading, “Get out of my uterus,” targeting Trump’s anti-abortion stance. Others held signs criticizing his trade wars, which have rattled global markets.
“We’re here to stop fascism,” said Dominic Santella, a protester in Boston. “We won’t let him jail opponents or target immigrants without a fight.”
Democrats and Activists Speak Out
At the Washington rally, Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD), who led Trump’s second impeachment, fired up the crowd: “No moral person wants an economy-crashing dictator who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.”
Veteran activist Graylan Hagler, 71, warned, “They’ve woken a sleeping giant. We won’t sit down, we won’t be quiet, and we won’t go away.”
White House Unfazed, Trump Digs In
Despite the widespread backlash, the Trump administration dismissed the protests. The president, still popular with his conservative base, doubled down on his agenda. “My policies will never change,” he declared Friday.
With Trump’s approval ratings at a historic low and resistance growing, the political divide in America shows no signs of healing. As demonstrators vowed to keep fighting, one message was clear: This is only the beginning.
